| In accordance with the Chapter's Mission, our signature
projects are as follows: |
Sista To Sista
This continuous program, in collaboration with Hamilton County Public Schools, provides a big sister/mentor relationship
with individual chapter members and girls from Howard School of Academics and Technology and Tyner High School. Activities with the
"little sisters" have included: college campus tours, preview of the "Jacob Lawrence Art Exhibit" at the Hunter
Museum of American Art, Black History "Mahogany Bowl", job shadowing, book club and much more. |
Pioneer Women
This awards program recognizes African-American women who charted the course for women, particularly during an era
when doors were not open to women of color. |
"Reach to the Future" Scholarship
Academic scholarships are awarded to area high school students based on excellence in academics, leadership, and
community service. |
HIV/Aids Awareness
NCBW collaborates with area doctors and health organizations to provide programs and material pertinent to women
and the risk of HIV/AIDS. Our "Is Your Man Putting You At Risk" brochure with statistical data is provided and
placed in local doctors' examining rooms. |
